Love against the wind

Chapter 3

Sienna acted as if she hadn't seen them, turning to leave with her box, but Quinn's voice stopped her from behind.

"Sienna!"

Before she could react, Quinn rushed forward and grabbed her arm.

"Don't get the wrong idea. Julian is here to pick you up. We have a class reunion tonight, and I'm just hitching a ride."

Hearing this, Sienna lifted her eyes to look at them, her face devoid of any expression.

Quinn, surprised by her calm demeanor, paused for a second before adding, "I'm sorry, I was so busy on my first day at the office that I didn't have time to come and talk to you."

"I had no idea that my coming here would take your position. We were old classmates, after all. I feel terrible that I forced you to resign. Why don't I go talk to the general manager and ask him to let you come back?"

At this, Julian finally noticed the cardboard box in her arms, but he just frowned dismissively.

"You quit? Good. It's for the best."

Countless times before, after a satisfying night in bed, he would ask her to quit her job.

He would hold her, telling her he couldn't live without her, asking her to be by his side forever.

Sienna came from a broken home. When she found someone who gave her warmth, she saw him as her entire world.

So when he said those things, she thought it was because he loved her so much he couldn't bear to be apart from her for a single moment.

Now she realized he just couldn't live without her in bed.

He didn't give a damn about her career, which was why he could so easily take the fruits of her labor and hand them over to Quinn.

When they got to the car, Quinn pushed her toward the passenger seat. Before she could open the door, Julian stopped her.

"Let Quinn sit there. She gets carsick. Just let her have it."

Sienna said nothing and got into the back seat.

Quinn, on the other hand, sat in the passenger seat, her face flushed a deep crimson.

"After all this time, you still remember I get carsick?"

Julian started the car, his well-defined fingers tightening slightly on the steering wheel. "I remember everything about you."

At his reply, Quinn's face turned an even deeper shade of red.

The entire ride, the two of them talked nonstop, first sharing what they had been up to over the years, then reminiscing about their time in school. At certain points, they would look at each other and smile, completely forgetting that Sienna was sitting in the back.

When they arrived at the private room for the reunion, the three of them sat down, and Julian doted on Quinn.

Fearing she might get cold, he first took off his jacket and draped it over her legs, then had someone turn up the thermostat.

When people offered her drinks, he intercepted every single one. He even peeled an apple for her, cutting it into small pieces and handing it to her.

When a male classmate tried to get close to her, Julian would immediately stand between them with a cold expression, his possessiveness on full display, as if daring anyone not to see that he was jealous.

Sienna had always been a loner in school, and tonight was no different. She sat alone in a corner, scrolling through her phone.

Then, Quinn lost a party game. The penalty was to either kiss a guy in the room or chug a full bottle of beer.

Quinn stood up, looking embarrassed, and glanced around the room.

All the other guys had brought their girlfriends, and she was allergic to alcohol.

After a moment's hesitation, she reluctantly picked up the beer bottle.

Suddenly, Julian reached out, snatched the bottle from her hand, grabbed the back of her head, and kissed her forcefully.

The entire room erupted. Everyone looked toward the official girlfriend, Sienna, expecting a scene. But to their surprise, she just sat there, her eyes slightly downcast.

The two of them shared a long, passionate kiss. Julian's eyes, when he looked at her, were full of deep affection.

After the kiss, Quinn, flustered and shy, knocked over a glass of water, soaking the table and her dress.

Seeing this, Julian immediately said, "I have a new dress in the car. Sienna, take the keys and help Quinn get changed."

Sienna took the car keys and got up. After watching Quinn change into the new dress, Quinn stood in front of her, feigning surprise.

"This dress fits so perfectly. Sienna, you're so much taller than me, and our sizes are completely different. How did Julian manage to buy a dress that fits me so well?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Sienna. I didn't mean to stir up trouble between you and Julian."

Having seen enough of her innocent act, Sienna smirked.

"There's no one else here. You can drop the act."

Quinn froze for a moment, her smile stiffening on her face. "What?"

Sienna turned around, her face calm as she looked at her. "Quinn, this is exactly what you wanted, isn't it?"

"Back in school, you were the popular girl, the one everyone adored. But then I transferred, and I took that from you. You acted like it was nothing, but you hated me for it."

"So when Julian confessed his feelings to you, you deliberately told him he wasn't the type for a long-term relationship. You pushed him to find someone else to date, knowing full well that with his ego, he would go after me, the hardest one to get."

"You just wanted to use him to get back at me, didn't you? Am I right?"

Quinn's eyes showed a flicker of surprise, but she forced herself to remain calm. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Sienna laid her cards on the table. "I heard you on the phone with your friend in the restroom earlier."

Quinn's face turned pale, then red. Since the truth was out, she dropped the pretense.

"So what if you know? Even if you tell Julian, he won't believe you."

"That's right, I used him to get back at you. I wanted to make you miserable. Sienna, how much longer do you think you can hold on to your title as his girlfriend? The moment I say the word, he'll dump you in a heartbeat!"

Seeing her true colors, Sienna actually felt a sense of relief.

She had no desire to fight with her over anything. She just couldn't stand watching her prance around in that fake, innocent mask.

She turned to leave, but Quinn suddenly grabbed her arm and then dramatically threw herself to the ground.

Before Sienna could even process what had happened, Julian, who had just come out looking for them, was running toward them.

"Quinn!"

He shoved Sienna violently, rushing to Quinn's side.
