After I Faked Amnesia, My Alpha Went Insane

Chapter 2

I was discharged a few days later.

I insisted to the doctors that I remembered everyone and everything, except for Damian and Leo.

The doctor told Damian it was "selective amnesia" caused by the concussion, and that my memories would slowly return as I recovered.

I went back to the house I shared with Damian, the manor on the Blackwood pack lands.

Beautiful piano music drifted from the living room.

Isabella and Leo were playing a duet.

When the song ended, Isabella gave him a thumbs-up. "Our little pianist is so talented!"

Leo blushed. "It's because you're a great teacher."

It was a picture of domestic bliss.

I walked up the stairs without a word.

The moment Leo saw me, the smile vanished from his face.

Isabella quickly stood up. "Luna, how are you feeling?"

I stood on the staircase and nodded to her. "Much better, thank you. Please, continue."

I don't hate Isabella. I just envy her.

She wasn't the other woman in my marriage.

She was Damian's unforgettable first love, the one he could never get over.

I might have been Damian's official Luna, but a saying I once heard was true.

The one who isn't loved is the real other woman.

When Damian was eighteen, at the peak of his youth, I watched him fall head over heels for someone for the first time.

Last month, Isabella's pack, the Vance pack, collapsed, and she was forced to return.

Her family's assets were all seized to cover the pack's debts, and her music degree wasn't helping her find a high-paying job in the human world.

Damian found her and offered her a job as Leo's piano teacher for $60,000 a month.

"My new mom is the best! I love my new mom the most!" Leo shouted, his voice carrying through the large house.

"Young Master, I'm not... Please don't call me that," Isabella said, looking embarrassed.

Leo was not happy with her formal tone. He hugged her leg affectionately. "I'll get mad if you call me Young Master again. You have to call me Leo!"

"You're so much nicer than my mom! I like you the most!"

He glanced up the stairs toward my bedroom. Seeing that I hadn't come out, he continued, "Can you please live with us? I want to see you the moment I wake up. My dad already said it's okay, why won't you? Our house is huge, you can have anything you want."

Damian had, in fact, suggested she move in. We had plenty of rooms, it would save her the commute, and besides, Isabella now had almost nothing.

But she had insisted on renting her own place, refusing Damian's offer.

"Young Master... Leo, you should practice today's piece."

Leo shook his head, determined to make her stay.

"Are you scared of my mom? Don't worry, Dad and I will protect you. She does whatever my dad says. She wouldn't dare do anything to you."

Leo was my son. He was smart. He knew exactly what to say to hurt me the most.

I put on my pearl earrings and walked calmly out of my room.

Seeing me come downstairs, Isabella looked flustered. "Luna, I..."

"It's alright, Isabella. You should stay here. I know your bus ride is three hours each way."

I took the shoes a maid handed me. "Don't feel pressured. I'm actually glad you're back."

Leo was stunned into silence.

Before, whenever his dad got drunk and whispered Isabella's name, his mom's eyes would turn red with tears.

Yes, this wasn't the first time Leo had seen Isabella.

He had secretly seen the photos his dad kept locked in a drawer and heard him mutter another woman's name when he was drunk.

He thought he had found the perfect weapon to punish his mother.

But now, that weapon wasn't working.

"I want ice cream! Get me two scoops! No, ten!"

The only answer he got was the sound of the front door closing behind me.

I had been a mess in the hospital for days. Now that I was finally out, I desperately needed a trip to the salon.

The driver was already waiting outside.

Inside, Leo's face fell.

"Young Master, here's your ice cream," a maid said, rushing over from the kitchen.

"Who wants this crap," he muttered, throwing the bowl to the floor.

He stared at the closed front door.

Did she really not remember him? Was her love for him really gone?
